Facts About NAFCA

    • NAFCA currently has 31 members who collectively own or operate in excess of 592,000 privately-marked freight cars, equaling approximately 70 percent of all private freight cars operated in the United States as of January 1, 2007

     

    NAFCA members consist of

    • Railcar manufacturers
    • Railcar lessors
    • Shippers

     

    • NAFCA holds a Section 501(c)(6) tax exemption and antitrust immunity from the Board under Section 10706 to discuss private car compensation when and if appropriate

     

    • NAFCA is committed to pursuing its goals in a business-like manner and open fashion in order to try to work with railroads, shippers, and car suppliers to promote a more efficient and competitive industry

     

    • NAFCA has attempted to discuss and negotiate numerous issues with the railroads and have reached some successful conclusions
